UFC 115: Franklin vs. Liddell Main Event Review
For UFC 115, the UFC traveled to Vancouver, Canada. Chuck Liddell (21-7) and Rich Franklin (25-5), the main event featured a match-up between two UFC veterans. Chuck Liddell came into the fight lacking his infamous flabby physique. Liddell looked toned and ready to go instead. Unfortunately, for him, it meant nothing, as Rich Franklin knocked him out in Round 1.
Franklin came out and hit Liddell with a leg kick, as the round opened, and then hit him with a left hand. Liddell caught him with a shot, after that, and Franklin attempted the first takedown of the fight. He was unable to get Liddell down, though. For a takedown, Liddell went on his own, which was successful. He came up bleeding, though, possibly from a head butt.
Liddell landed a vicious kick that Franklin blocked with his arm, as Round 1 continued. The kick actually broke Franklin’s arm, it was revealed later. Liddell then landed a hard right hand that seemed to hurt Franklin. Against the cage, Liddell got Franklin and landed a hard elbow. Out of nowhere, Franklin landed a short right and Liddell crumbled. The referee stepped in to stop the fight and Franklin followed up with punches on the ground.
At UFC 115, both Liddell and Franklin gave it their all. Liddell’s best was sadly, just not good enough. Continuing to fight with a broken arm is not something many people could do, and Franklin showed why no one could should him lightly.
