Dario Franchetti wins his second Indy 500
Dario Franchitti wins his second Indy 500, Memorial Sunday, 2010. Early in the first, he surpassed three time champion Helio Castroneves. Castroneves was on his rear wing most of the track. Eleven laps were led by Justin Wilson. Mike Conway led fifteen laps. He kept the lead for most of the race, which totaled 155 laps.
By contacts, ten of thirty-three cars were eliminated. Of the first lap, Davey Hamilton hit a wall on the round. There were no critical injuries. From last place came Tony Kanaan. He passed eight cars before the first yellow flag came up. Through the race, he inched his way up. He was in third place right behind Helio Castroneves for a long while. He fell back to finish eleventh.
Since early in the race that make steering difficult, Danica Patrick had an issue with the rear tire grip. Throughout the race, her team made adjustments. Patrick drove aggressively despite the setbacks, finishing fifth. Two rookie female drivers finished the race. They were Ana Beatriz of Brazil and Simona DeSilvesrto of Switzerland. Sara Fisher was out in the 125th lap with insurmountable mechanical issues.
Dan Wheldon got second place. Third place went to Alex Lloyd. In fourth place, finished Scott Dixon and Danica Patrick finished in fifth place.
